Know the student
Pay attention to strengths, weaknesses and the way the student processes mathematics.
Meet the teacher
Be The Light Mathematics was built around the belief that students engage more deeply when they trust the person teaching them.

One teacher. Real relationships.
Leina Green is a certified Texas 7–12 Mathematics Teacher, certified Texas Principal and homeschool mother of three. She has seven years of teaching experience, including six years on a public-school campus and one year teaching online. In 2022, she was named Teacher of the Year.
She created Be The Light Mathematics to provide the lessons, practice and assessment families expect while preserving direct access to one teacher who can pay attention to each student.
“My goal is to build students’ confidence in math by helping them see their strengths—and see that their weaknesses can become strengths.”
Teaching philosophy
Leina works to establish a relationship in which students feel safe asking questions while still being challenged to persevere, take ownership and grow.
Pay attention to strengths, weaknesses and the way the student processes mathematics.
Present concepts in ways that help the student reach genuine understanding.
Maintain meaningful standards while providing the support required to meet them.
Help students recognize their progress and become more confident learners.
